On May 11, 2019, the Olympia Yacht Club is sponsoring and celebrating the annual Opening Day of boating season in South Sound. Held for many decades, the event features a parade of decorated boats of all sizes and types. The Lakefair court will be on board the beautiful, classic 63 foot Saluda III at the docks outside of Anthony’s restaurant to help judge the best dressed boats.
South Sound residents and families interested in Olympia’s beautiful marine environment or decorated boats are encouraged to attend this long-standing maritime tradition. The parade is scheduled from Noon – 1:30 p.m. Ideal viewing is from Port Plaza by Anthony’s restaurant in downtown Olympia.
