Roman Fountains & Spanish Holiday - Tacoma Youth Symphony

Fountains of Rome: Saturday, May 12th at 7pm

Conducted by Dale Johnson, this concert is sponsored by The Gottfried and Mary Fuchs Foundation.

The program will be with Copland's exciting El Salon Mexico. Next Mr. Johnson will lead the Young Artists Orchestra in Joaquin Turina's Prayer of the Bullfighter. TYAO will continue in a Spanish mood with Arturo Marquez's Danzon No. 2. After intermission the Young Artists will preform Ottorino Respighi's famous Fountains of Rome. The evening will conclude with a pair of Salvonic Dances by Atonin Dvorak.

Spanish Holiday: Sunday, May 20th at 3pm

The Tacoma Youth Symphony will be joined by student soloist Abbie Foulon for Herbert Howell's Elegy for Viola, String Quartet and String Orchestra. Ms. Foulon is the Co-Principal Violist for the Tacoma Youth Symphony and a senior at SOTA. The program will continue with three dances from Manuel de Falla's lively Three Cornered Hat Suite. After intermission Dr. Cobbs and the Youth Symphony will be joined by well-known guitarist, Michael Partington, for Rodrigo's Conierto de Aranjuez. Mr. Partington is currently serving as Artist in Residence at the University of Washington and has preformed throughout North America, Europe, Scandinavia and Russia. The Afternoon will conclude with Dvorak's Carnival Overture.
