Lacey Loves to Read is a community reading initiative designed to encourage our area students to become lifelong readers and learners. Activities include a district-wide bookmark creation contest, short story writing events, and more. A notable children's author visits each year to share insights on writing and reading and foster a culture of reading in our school community.

2023-24 Featured Author: Donna Barba Higuera

A Newbery Medal, PNBA, Cybils, and Pura Belpré Award-winning children's author of The Last Cuentista and Lupe Wong Won't Dance, among other titles. Donna Barba Higuera grew up in central California in a mixed-race family. She now lives in Washington with her family, three dogs, and two frogs.
