The Tenino Oregon Trail Days Festival will feature the Pioneer Village with 30 hands-on activities, including new this year a live Black Powder Shooting Experience under the guidance of experienced instructors, where visitors will have the opportunity to safely fire a traditional black powder rifle and discover firsthand what shooting was like more than 175 years ago. An authentic black powder blank charge will deliver all the real flash, thunder, and cloud of smoke, with no live bullets or solid projectiles being used.
"One of the things people have told us most is that they missed the Black Powder Experience, where kids could experience what it was like to fire a rifle," said Cheryl Pearce, President of the Tenino Area Chamber of Commerce and Festival Co-Chair. "We are excited that our committee members were able to safely bring back this activity for families to enjoy."
In addition to Pioneer Village, the festival feature: Tenino Lions Club Grand Parade, Washington Agate and Mineral Society Rock and Gem Show, Tenino Depot Museum: Living History Experience, wooden money printing, and blacksmith, Tenino Young-At-Heart Theatre production of Once Upon a Mattress, Capital City 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Quilt Show, Creekside Conservancy Salmon Bake, Tenino Farmers Market Blue Ribbon Pie Baking Contest. New attractions for 2026 include: FIN the Migrating Salmon Interactive Exhibit, Tenino Eagles Car Show with live music and beer garden, and Castle Realty & Tenino Young at Heart Theatre Mini-Faire. The festival takes place in Tenino City Park, where the Quarry Pool will also be open all weekend.
