In Tlingit culture,the Humpback Whale (YƔay) symbolize greatness, strength, wisdom, and the profound spiritual connection between humans and the ocean.
What to Expect:
- A hands-on chance to learn technique, paint, ask Bill questions, and honor a living tradition.
- As you paint, Bill will share from his culture, and the oral histories of the whale, helping you to encounter the rich connections of an ancient art form, depicting animals, supernatural beings, and figures.
- No painting experience is required; all you need is the willingness to use your inner creativity and embrace the beauty of formline.
- This unique art-making session invites you to explore the visual language of the native peoples of the Northwest Coast of North America.
- Outside food and beverage are permitted. A Selection of non-alcoholic beverages are available
